a birthday blog

hello hello. i recently celebrated my (gulp) 27th birthday. it was a lovely day. i finished painting the trim in our bedroom (!), went thrift shopping, tried to make a snowman (but the snow was still too dry), ate pumpkin cupcakes, and the husband made sushi rolls and edamame. i have been wanting to make a 27 before 28 list for a while now. that is a lot to accomplish! but, i do have 365 days to do it. here's to another year older, another year wiser, and another year of living life as best i can...

little lady love

sweet baby E is 5 months old! this girl is seriously just a sweetheart. this month she has started trying out some real foods (other than momma milk). so far, she has tried rice cereal, banana, avocado, and sweet potato. she loves every bit of it! miss E can sit up for short periods, but is still quite weeble-wobbley. the girl loves to roll around, but she would really rather stand up. bath time is still quite the favorite and she just babbles on and on to anyone who will listen.

recently, i noticed how curious she is. she will just watch us so intently, soaking it all up. i just love this little lady and couldn't imagine life without her.

a bit about food

baby E has been tasting a few solid foods for the very first time. it is really quite fascinating to watch her face as she experiences new flavors and textures. as i think about the foods i give my sweet baby, it has put a new perspective on the foods that i feed myself. i want to think about the foods that i put in my mouth, where they come from, what their purpose is.

coffee break

my little love woke up bright and early this morning with a smile on her face. she is already down for her first nap of the day. recently, she has started the sweetest little sleepy song when she gets tired. it seriously melts my heart. it looks like another cold and snowy day. i have been dreaming of taking a stroll with my little lady around the neighborhood, but it looks like it will have to wait. we actually took a trip to the mall to walk around where it was nice and warm. but, there is just something so 'ick' about the mall. after i finish up this hot cup of jo, i am off to tidy up our little house. and waiting for a very important e-mail to pop up in my inbox. patience is a virtue. repeat, patience is a virtue.

the mister is currently working on some renovations in our bedroom. i am loving this simple, casual looking room at the moment. and, it makes a bicycle in the bedroom look just lovely.


we are lucky enough to be able to put our bikes in our basement right now. but, did you know we had 3 bikes in our bedroom at our old apartment? 2 hanging from the ceiling and 1 hidden under the bed. oh, so romantic, i know.


i am staying warm this morning, sipping my coffee (with milk, honey, and cinnamin), working on some goals, and brainstorming some big life plans.

snowy dreams

there is something so peaceful and serene about falling snow. i just love it. i slipped on my big winter hat and stepped out while baby E was napping to sweep our front porch and left the mister a message for when he returns.

i hope he likes it! today is full of sweeping up pine needles, drinking hot cocoa, and dreaming big. oh, and baby kisses. lots of baby kisses!

winter cycling

who knew winter cycling could look so pretty?? the temperature was in the 60's last week and i didn't hesitate to take advantage of it. the mister and i took off to the local mountain bike trails. oh, it felt so good. i was stopped abruptly when my derailer snapped off on the last loop, though. boo. now my bike is in the shop, and snow and negative temperatures are in the forecast. such a tease.
